Hedge Trimming

Hedge Trimming Blue Mountains

A neat hedge does a lot for a Blue Mountains property — it frames the garden, gives you some privacy from the road or the neighbours, and honestly just makes the whole place look cared for. Left unattended though, mountains hedges can get out of hand fast, especially through spring when growth really takes off. If yours has gotten away from you, or you’d rather just hand the job over permanently, we can help.

We’re based in Lawson and offer hedge trimming right across the Blue Mountains, from Mt Victoria down to Glenbrook. We work on everything from small ornamental hedges lining a front path to big established boundary hedges that have been growing for decades and need serious equipment and know-how to bring back under control.

Hedge trimming up here comes with a few extra considerations compared to lower, warmer areas. Growth patterns shift with the seasons and the altitude — a hedge in Glenbrook might need trimming more often through the warmer months than the same species growing up near Blackheath or Mt Victoria, where cooler temperatures slow things down. We keep this in mind when working out a trimming schedule, rather than applying the same timing to every property regardless of where it sits on the range.

We handle both the regular, straightforward trims that keep an established hedge looking sharp, and the bigger reclamation jobs where a hedge has been left for a year or more and needs cutting back hard to get it back into shape. That second type of job takes a bit more care — cut back too aggressively on the wrong species at the wrong time and you can kill the hedge instead of reviving it, so we know which varieties can handle a hard prune and which need a more gradual approach over a couple of visits.

Beyond the trim itself, we tidy up properly afterwards. Hedge clippings left scattered across a lawn or garden bed look worse than the overgrown hedge did in the first place, so we make sure everything’s cleared away, and we can take the green waste off site if you don’t want it piling up.

We work on all the common hedge varieties you’ll find around mountains properties — photinia, lilly pilly, box, camellia, murraya, and plenty of others — and we’re happy to talk through the best shape and height for your particular hedge if you’re not sure what’ll work best for privacy, light, or just keeping it healthy long term.

Hedge trimming is also something a lot of our clients bundle in with regular garden maintenance or lawn mowing visits, so it’s one less thing to think about or organise separately. If you’d rather just have it handled on a schedule, we can set that up.

If you’ve got a hedge that needs attention anywhere between Mt Victoria and Glenbrook, whether it’s a quick tidy-up or a serious overgrowth situation, get in touch and we’ll come take a look.
